Zulu love letters a hit at the London Destinations 2013
It seems there is still much business to be gained from travel trade shows and the decision to exhibit at this consumer-facing exhibition was in-step with the increased media attention and improved trade sales to Southern Africa as some SATOA partners discovered during a busy four-day show in Earls Court London.
"Destinations 2013 provided a good opportunity to engage directly with customers with a passion for the many places we fly to within Southern Africa. We were particularly delighted with the interest in our on-board wines and Extreme Fares sale” said Katie Edwards South African Airways Marketing Executive UK&Ire
Some Southern Africa destinations enjoy a high level of loyalty and repeat business, and this trade show was good platform for companies and destinations to promote some of their less-well known products to consumers who have a strong affinity with the region.
With visitor numbers up 14% on the previous years, the exhibiting partners on the SATOA stand included luxury hideaways, safaris, spa hotels and exotic destinations which were just the inspiration the visitors were looking for: “We had a good show, especially on Friday and Sunday with the high quality of visitors to the stand. The recent media focus on Africa certainly helped!” commented Natalie de la Porte of Tourism Kwa-Zulu Natal.
The challenge now is to maintain this engagement and momentum and to make sure that potential visitors have all the information they need to make informed decisions to visit this amazing part of the world.
