Rwanda introduces new adventure activity

Written by
Paramotoring, a form of paragliding where pilots wear a motor on their back to propel a paraglider, has been introduced in Rwanda and is expected to contribute to the country’s adventure tourism offerings.

Introduced by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) in association with the Rwanda Flying Club and Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority, paramotoring is a new way for tourists to explore Rwanda’s natural beauty.

The new experience is managed by RDB and the Rwanda Flying Club. Operators will undergo training with the Rwanda Flying Club before being allowed to fly.

The activity will take place at four sites – the historic Huye District, the lakeside towns of Rubavu and Karongi and the mountain rainforests of Nyungwe National Park.

Belise Kariza, Chief Tourism Officer at RDB said: “Rwanda is the best destination for adventurers seeking memorable, sustainable tourism experiences in Africa. We are happy to be introducing paramotoring, our new tourism experience. We will be the only country in East Africa offering such an experience.”
