Fastjet and Emirates have renewed their interline agreement. The agreement sees fastjet’s inventory made available in conjunction with Emirates’ inventory through the Amadeus and Travelport GDSs. The new arrangement came into effect on April 26.
Interline agreements are designed to assist travellers flying with more than one airline to complete their journey seamlessly. Using the example of Tanzania, Nico Bezuidenhout, Chief Executive of fastjet explains: “Fastjet connects international hubs with major urban centres. In our markets in Tanzania, for example, travellers would be able to seamlessly connect between Dar es Salaam and Mwanza, Kilimanjaro and Mbeya, all of which support various industry and tourism nodes.”
Bezuidenhout adds that Emirates holds 18% of the market share of inbound travel into Africa. “The interline agreement will have a significant impact on tourism and business travel as fastjet destinations become accessible to a substantially sized, new market.”
