Singita Grumeti Reserves Introduces Exclusive, Luxury Tented Mobile Safari Experience In East Africa

Written by
Singita Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania will launch an exclusive and luxurious Tented Mobile Safari Experiencefor discerning travelers in November 2010. While lavish luxury and personal service are all part of the Singita trademark, so, equally is its uncompromising philosophy to ‘touch the earth lightly' in everything it undertakes, whilst providing guests with an unforgettable safari experience.

Recreating the romance-infused Africa of a bygone era, the authentic Tented Mobile Safari Experience will provide guests with luxurious en-suite tented accommodation, and the opportunity to overnight in a choice of two mobile locations. Their journey of discovery will lead to some of the most remote and romantic sites on the pristine Singita Grumeti Reserves, located between the Serengeti National Park and the Maasai Mara, on the path of Africa's thrilling annual wildebeest migration.

This luxury safari option offers complete privacy to a small party of guests, as an ideal family celebration or getaway for a group of friends to experience thrilling wildlife encounters within the 350 000 acre reserve. With safety being uppermost, the tented camps will be manned at all times by highly trained and experienced Singita Guides. This assures guests of an exceptional guiding service to complement what has been cited as ‘some of the very best game viewing on earth'.

True to the renowned Singita signature, which combines unsurpassed luxury and exceptional hospitality with an unforgettable Big Five game viewing experience, the lavish tented camps will provide guests with repose in comfortable and luxurious lounge and dining areas, in addition to guest accommodation that will feature en-suite bathrooms. In typical Singita style, dining will be a highlight, albeit in this instance, simply crafted cuisine in the bush paired with a choice of hand-picked wines.

The exclusive Tented Mobile Safari Experience is recommended for between  6 and 12 persons for a minimum of 2 nights, at a cost of US$8100 per night for 6 people sharing, and US$ 1 350 per additional person per night.

For a safari experience of a lifetime, it is suggested that guests combine the tented mobile safari experience with a couple of nights at one of Singita Grumeti's three luxurious lodges: flagship Singita Sasakwa lodge overlooking the expansive Serengeti plains; contemporary Singita Faru Faru on the Grumeti River; or 1920's-styled Singita Sabora Tented Camp.

One of the other distinctive attractions at Singita Grumeti Reserves is its state-of-the-art Equestrian Centre, located at Sasakwa Lodge. Here Singita stables up to 18 magnificent, well-schooled horses that include Thoroughbreds, various cross breeds and South African Boerperde - a breed known for its outstanding temperament and comfortable paces, making them ideal for longer horseback safaris. On offer from November is the opportunity of a horseback safari that will combine the mobile tented camp experience with daily horse rides on the plains. This exhilarating Tented Mobile Safari Equestrian Experience will accommodate a group with 8 horses (maximum of 8 riders plus up to 4 non-riders if required), in a 6 night package that includes 4 nights in the mobile camps and 2 nights at either Singita Sabora or Faru Faru. Cost: US$7 490 per person for 6 nights, based on a minimum of 6 people.

During the months of September through November, guest itineraries may also include a day excursion to the Northern Serengeti, to experience 'one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth'.  Recently introduced by Singita, this option provides guests with the unique opportunity to follow the legendary migration of the wildebeest even after it has moved through the 350 000 acre (140 000ha) Singita Grumeti Reserves in June and July. The day excursion includes a 20 minute flight from Singita Grumeti Reserves to Kogatende landing strip, where guests are met by a Singita guide and game viewing vehicle, a picnic lunch, and a return flight to Singita Grumeti Reserves.  Cost: US$675 per person
